I started running the water until it's warm before I wash my face, and it turned the last thirty seconds of my night into something that feels like being taken care of.
Waiting for it to run warm. That's it. I used to think waiting was the wasteful part.
It's the last thirty seconds of the night, and for years I spent them flinching at cold water and calling it a routine.
Now it feels like being taken care of. By me, at the end of a long day, which turns out to count for a lot.
